I fell while playing tennis and injured my knee. I visited Kash who diagnosed that I had a torn meniscus. It was a complex tear. He explained to me the MRI images, patiently showing me where the torn meniscus was stuck under a ligament by the side of my knee. It made me understand why that particular part of my knee would get incredibly painful if I made sudden twists. It was comforting to understand everything and Kash put me at ease by his detailed explanations. Kash explained that while he would recommend surgery in such cases, as I was unsure, actually scared of surgery, I should attempt physiotherapist led treatment as I made up my mind. I tried physiotherapy led recovery for 4 months, but an incident while traveling made up my mind for me that I need surgery. I accidentally knocked a suitcase with my foot while travelling and there was an incredible pain in my knee. I could not move my leg without severe pain and this lasted for about a week. I went back to see Kash who explained in detail the procedure that he would do. He offered, if I was not squeamish, to show me a video of what we would do during the operation to help me understand. It was very nice to know what was going to happen during surgery. I had my surgery 6 weeks ago have no pain in my knee and I am building up my muscle strength. The main thing though, is I feel I have had a quick recovery and I am back to sports again! Some badminton and trampolining in the bag already. I would definitely recommend Kash to anyone.

I was referred to Mr Akhtar from my physiotherapist following ongoing physio for my knee injury, Mr Akhtar examined my knee and gave me his suggestions to the cause of my pain, after my MRI scan Mr Akhtar's findings were confirmed . Mr Akhtar is very knowledgeable and gave me confidence in his recommendations. I'm now back with my physiotherapist and hopefully on the road to a full recovery.

Back in February I sustained a small fracture to my right knee while skiing. After visiting my GP I was referred to Dr Kash Akhtar via my private health insurance. Dr Akhtar was fantastic; during the first examination he was very good at explaining the necessary steps required to fully determine the extent of the injury and after the scans were done Dr Akhtar made sure that I understood the injury that I had sustained. He defined a clear course of action for my recovery. Dr Akhtar's approach made me feel well looked after and very confident on my recovery. My knee has rapidly improved and I am nearly back to normal. I will happily recommend his services to anyone. Thank you.

I’m a 34 years old ex footballer, currently coaching football in a full time capacity. I raptured my ACL (right knee) in April 2012 during a football match. Following my injury I had two ‘unsuccessful ‘ operations at another London NHS Hospital; my ACL raptured again after the 2nd operation and left me in a absolutely devastating place.. I asked my local GP and requested to be seen by a specialist and was referred to Doctor K. Akhtar. Straight after my first consultation in early 2016 I was made to feel at ease and reassured. I needed to have an ACL reconstruction which required two other operations; to which I happily agreed. My first operation was conducted in August 2016 - my knee was cleaned inside and had bone graft injected into my tibia bone. My knee felt brilliant straight away and I could finally walk and coach free of pain. In August 2017 the second stage of the ACL reconstruction was conducted; my knee feels absolutely fine, stronger than it has ever been since my injury. I’m now a fully fit football coach with a positive outlook to life. I am grateful to Doctor Akhtar for his outstanding efforts during these two operations and feel lucky to have had him as my doctor.

I am currently being treated by another consultant at the Fortius Clinic for an ACL revision. I required an emergency knee assessment following a stumble at the gym. As my consultant was unavailable - I booked an appointment with Mr Akhtar. On welcoming me into his clinic, I was put at ease by his warm and friendly manner. Even though this was a one off appointment, he had read through all of my notes and I felt that I didn’t have to reel off my extensive ‘knee story’; I just had to give him a quick update - to which he listened to me fully and gave me his full attention. Mr Akhtar then performed a full knee assessment; he talked me through exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it and was careful not to hurt me. Luckily my knee seemed ok and unscathed by the stumble and Mr Akhtar played an excellent role in restoring my confidence in my recovery.
